Lies My Brain Tells Me - Out Now!
From the moment I could speak, I was obsessed with music. My first words? "Thank you for the tape player." No joke! My mom still loves telling the story of how, for one of my early birthdays, I got a cassette of Oasis' "(What's The Story) Morning Glory?)" and played it nonstop in my little Barney tape player.
But enough about my toddler days—my real journey started at 12 when I wrote my first song. Back then, Cinnamon Toast Crunch had a website where you could piece together loops to create one-minute tracks. I used it religiously, crafting little rap songs, but it didn’t take long before I craved more. I needed better tools to stretch my creative wings.
By 13 or 14, I had my hands on a free MIDI songwriting program. I don’t remember its name, but I do remember spending hours at my computer, writing song after song, sharpening my skills. My setup was... inventive. I repurposed a USB mic from my family's PlayStation 2 karaoke game, used Windows Movie Maker, that MIDI program, and a rotating list of trial software to record my masterpieces. But the quality wasn’t up to my standards—once again, I wanted more.
By 16, I had recorded over 100 songs, all without any formal music theory training. I dove deep into DAWs like Sony Acid and Steinberg Nuendo, spending 90% of my spare time writing and producing. I loved music production. I've always said music is my passion—it’s never been a question of if I’d make music, only how I’d keep pushing my sound forward.
Fast forward to today: I’ve written over 200 original songs, with new ideas coming daily. My setup is a bit more refined now— Logic Pro X, Reason 12, a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface, Samson ResolvSE studio monitors, an Audio-Technica condenser mic, and my MacBook Pro. I'm more ready than ever to share my creativity with the world, and I know that nothing can hold me back.
